Pay-for-Performance is an awards-based initiative that was implemented to encourage high academic performance amongst school children in the war-affected areas of Sri Lanka.
The program focuses on improving the education standard by awarding students and teachers for their resilience in overcoming challenges through cash prizes.
At each participating school, 3 awards will be given based on the student performance in grade 5 scholarship examination and 3 awards will be given at GCE O/L examination. The awardees
will continue to receive cash awards every term until they complete their schooling.
As a pilot project, Pay-for- Performance initiative will be implemented in 2014 in 5 schools in Kilinochi district in Sri Lanka.
